Fifteen Books

Rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes. To list your Fifteen Books, just reply to this thread. Comments about our lists are welcome, too, of course.

(This started on Facebook, when my daughter, Dena, asked me about my 15 books. Since I'm a fervid reader and love great books, this topic is right up my alley.)

(I liked the idea well enough that I thought I'd try the same thing here, where it's much easier than on Facebook. I find setting up notes and tagging friends to be somewhat confusing.)

1. Stranger in a Strange Land (Robert Heinlein)
2. Think and Grow Rich (Napoleon Hill)
3. Laws of Success (Napoleon Hill)
4. The Art of War (Sun Tsu)
5. Meditations (Marcus Aurelius)
6. Walden (Or, Life in the Woods) (Henry David Thoreau)
7. Grapes of Wrath (John Steinbeck)
8. To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
9. At Home in the Woods (Bradford Angier)
10. Civil Disobedience (Henry David Thoreau)
11. Guerrilla Marketing (Jay Conrad Levinson)
12. Atlas Shrugged (Ayn Rand)
13. Green Eggs and Ham (Dr. Seuss)
14. Physics (Artistotle)
15. Metaphysics (Aristotle)

Two more. Just couldn't leave them out, even if they are VERY different....

16. The Little Engine That Could (Don't know the author)
17. Fart Proudly (Benjamin Franklin)

Now that I narrowed my list down to 15 (well, 17) books and essays that will always stick with me, I'll be thinking of dozens more over the next few days that should have made the list. I've read hundreds of books on religion, philosophy, mythology, science, metaphysics, business, programming, science fiction, hunting and fishing, camping, living ... Read Morea life of voluntary simplicity, and other topics but they didn't jump into the "top of mind" consciousness needed for this little exercise suggested by Dena.

Thanks, Dena. That was fun.

How could I forget...

Johnathan Livingston Seagull (Richard Bach)
Journeys Out of the Body (Robert Monroe)
The Woman's Dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Objects (Barbara Walker)
Seth Speaks (Jane Roberts)
Bible
Bhagavad Gita
Enuma Elish
The Egyptian Book of the Dead, and hundreds more that will be flooding my thinking tonight!

And then there was...
Chariots of the Gods (Erich von Daniken)
the Earth Chronicles series (Zecharia Sitchen)
Tao-Te-Ching (Lao Tzu)....

Act on your dream!

JD

Then, there was...

Your Money or Your Life (Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin)
Rich Dad, Poor Dad (Robert Kiyosaki)
Cashflow Quadrant (Robert Kiyosaki)

...and other books that helped me get out of -- and stay out of -- debt, which was a very important change in my life.

Act on your dream!

JD
