I just spent the last half-hour or so reading about the
eyetracking research that Jakob Nielsen and Kara Pernice have been doing.
If you design web pages and want your visitors to read what you are saying, you may want to go to this site and do a bit of reading.
Once again, they have confirmed banner blindness, and even highly stylized text, if it looks like advertising, may be overlooked.
Look at the F-pattern readers typically use when reading the text on your page and how well some bulleted lists are read.
Another interesting result is that, for average readers,
RSS feeds will not replace email newsletters any time soon.
If you are involved in online marketing and advertising, you may want to spend some time reading the results of their eyetracking research.
